The Precipice

High on a cliff top
Over vertical drop.
Invisible the bottom
Where fall would stop.

Edgy on the ledge,
Breeze feels free.
Wave crash and rip
Across loose scree.

Standing proud up here,
Gaze down below,
Looking forever upwards
To where I must go.

Light here is faded,
Pale, but all around.
Oxygen thining
Going further from the ground.

Stately is the manner
In which we rejuvenate,
Energy and matter
In mutable state.

I know that love will conquer
To overcome all hate,
For now my soul must wander
Until it meets fate.
